The city:
- Population: ca 113.000
- Guanajuato City is the Capital of the State of Guanajuato and is one of the most important historical and cultural colonial cities of Mexico.
- Guanajuato State is located in central area of Mexico, to the south of the Mexican high plateau.
- UNESCO declared Guanajuato and the surrounding silver mines a "World Heritage Zone" in 1988.
- The state has an international airport, 32 kilometers from the city center
Cultural/Recreational:
While remaining a small provincial city, Guanajuato boasts a great number of attractions, from beautiful colonial buildings to modern museums, from silver mines to the university.
- Guanajuato dazzles the visitor with the charm of its relaxed atmosphere, its cobblestone streets and its picturesque squares.
- The Internacional Cervantino Festival, or FIC, is a very important and famous festival full of culture, music, theatre and dance. It is held every year on the first two weeks of October and draws artists and tourists from around the world.
- The famous Underground Street, formally known as Miguel Hidalgo Street has an incredible charm. It follows the bed of the old Guanajuato river, running beneath the city for almost 3 kilometers.
- Almost all the state of Guanajuato has a pleasant climate with temperatures from 12º C. minimum to 24º C. maximum.
